Dr. Melanie Pollock and Dr. Darrell Dutton have been a team at home and work for more than 25 years. They have navigated together many experiences that have allowed them to grow and expand their points of view. Children, business ownership, and rebuilding after devastating flooding; it builds capacity.
At the office, we are grateful to have had a multitude of experiences with amazing staff and many core families that have weathered life with us from our beginning.
Over the years we have developed special interests and taken more continuing education to facilitate our individual skillsets. Darrell has a fondness for IT (he built and maintains our network) and Endodontic treatment (root canal therapy). Melanie has worked hard to keep the office administration and standard operating procedures current and early adopting. She has a special interest in surgery. Both dentists are delighted to share patients so they can spend more time doing what they love.

Our Work Family
Our reception and business team, Jenn, Leslie and Taylor are your first contact and do their best to answer questions and coordinate your schedule with ours. We try to communicate well and utilize digital means as often as we can, but sometimes, phone calls still work best. We stagger our lunches, so you can contact us during your meal break. Occasionally, we might celebrate a birthday all together, and messages will be returned promptly.
Our registered dental hygienists, Lana, Lindsay, and Celeste bring more than 50 collective years of clinical experience at Atrium Dental. We try to be kind and compassionate while providing care. We will be asking you questions about your health and medications, only to help us support you better. Many medications and conditions have direct correlations with oral health. We are always happy that you’ve made the effort to visit, and want to only encourage you to return – we are lecture free. We want you to know there is no need to feel embarrassment about what we might see. We only feel satisfaction from helping you – no judgement.
Our registered assistants, Rachelle, Laura, Sue-Anne, and Payton, are the clinical staff that support you during your treatment. We have duties we can perform independently and we are vital to the dentist when chair-side assisting to provide comfortable treatment. If you have questions, please ask us. We find satisfaction by gaining your trust and providing you with compassionate care. We want you to know that we have no problems holding hands, getting you a blanket, weighted vest, or neck pillow and finding your favourite cat videos on YouTube.
As a team we make sure that infection control standards are upheld, and keep maintenance and compliance records. We order dental materials that we are happy to use on ourselves (not just the least expensive), and monitor expiration dates. We maintain water quality standards, as well as X-ray quality control compliance. We also maintain IT compliance for the safety of your information.
We all are certified with CPR-C and Standard First Aid/AED. Clinical staff that work with patients using sedation, are BLS certified every year.
